Alley ways

It's nice to have predictably sometimes, to have personal rituals that restore us or stand as an island when life is crazy.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, I spend a few hours in my favorite coffee shop, tucked away in an alley off the Ave. It's quiet, it's spacious, it's cozily predictable.

I order my brewed coffee and apple fritter,
Stamp my punch card (feeling a little like Dad),
and get my fill of people-watching through the bay windows.

The boy in the leather jacket, who plays his guitar outside in between smoke breaks, recognizes me now. And the barista has my mug warm when I get to the cash register...ready for medium roast.

I think I've found a niche.

And like that island, Allegro absorbs me when midterms and assignments loom, when I'm full of indecision, or I just need a cup of Seattle beauty. Cheers.
