The day has been an absolute whirlwind with all the traveling and time zone changes! It is currently 7:20 pm as I write this...a full nine hours ahead all of you and I have had the craziest day ever.
Aunt Dawn and I got on the flight in Newark and she kindly gave me her first class seat, complete with glassware and hot towels. I didn't know what those were for so I had to watch other people out of the corner of my eye. Basically, you can do whatever you want with them because you're in first class, but it's safe to just wipe off your hands or face before returning it. It was such a different experience from any of my other flights. I had a great time and the pilot even came back to meet me and brought me up to the cockpit!
After our smooth takeoff and 6 course meal, I didn't feel much like sleeping so I listened to a few lectures on my ipod and hung out. The flight went pretty quickly and I got to meet a lot of Dawn's colleauges...or cohorts :)
On landing, the two of us took off to find a shuttle to the Mariott Hotel we're staying in and it seemed to take forever. Dawn asked at least three people where it would be and each one had a different answer. We should work on her French skills! Actually, being here and being totally immersed in the language makes me want to study it and come back.
Obviously the hotel was located and we made it with all of our luggage. There was no time for rest though! We hit the ground running and learned the ropes of the Paris metro/subway system. On the to-do list: Notre Dame, le Tour Eiffel, and Arc de Triomphe. Whew...
Waiting for the shuttle:
Our lunch spot across from Notre Dame:
The best bookstore EVER:
French walk signals:
Notre Dame from the Garden:

My favorite part of the day:
Cutest foreign kids ever (Kels, this one's for you, I knew you'd go crazy):

An upward angle:
Arc de Triomphe:
As you can see, today was a great introduction to the city and to France in general...I'm so excited to meet up with everyone else tomorrow and to move into Honfleur!
Leave me your address if you'd like a postcard :)

The best picture is of you in the cockpit! I think you might have found a future career! And I think the hot towels are my favorite thing about first class! Don’t you love them!? Have fun and stay safe! =)
